Nine youths aged 8 to 13 were seized by Washington police in connection with a shotgun style attack on Rep Curtis near the Capitol. Police say three boys 9 and 10 admitted taking part. the others denied involvement. The case is described as solved and the youths are held for questioning.
A freak seiche from a squall line swept Chicago's Lake Michigan shore for miles, washing at least 20 fishermen into the water. Coast Guard, police, and fire units aided rescues as several bodies were recovered north of Montrose Harbor and near Loyola University.
A four million dollar blaze at the Tide Waters Associated Oil docks in Los Angeles Harbor began with a 38,000 barrel storage tank explosion at 6 27 p m Friday. One man is believed dead as flames threatened the West Basin while crews battled to fully extinguish the fire by noon.

He was beaten and later walked to a phone to call the sheriff. The two suspects described as dark complexioned men about 25. The daylight heist recalls an April 1953 hold up.
Secretary of State Dulles and British Foreign Minister Eden opened talks at the State Department on a possible joint Anglo American policy to block further Communist expansion in Southeast Asia. The discussions, part of a weekend conference with Churchill and Eisenhower, aimed to form a Southeast Asian anti Communist alliance, though Britain showed less enthusiasm.
