Tranquilizers Aid Alcoholics in Recovery Efforts
A Washington report notes tranquilizers help some alcoholics by reducing tension and easing withdrawal. Doctors report improved sobriety duration and better adjustment, with about 75 percent of treated patients showing some benefit during withdrawal, and 58 percent with good to very good improvement.
