Dr. Eliot Corday and Milton Elkins at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital report using carbonated soda to expand the stomach and reveal shadows of the heart in X rays. In 220 patients the method produced satisfactory pictures of enlarged hearts in 87. the technique helps image downwardly enlarged hearts often hidden behind the stomach, aiding diagnosis.
