Belated vow brings big family road trip on a bus
Brenton and Ruth Gregory, a Los Angeles couple, married in 1940 and promised ten children in ten years. Now 16 years late, they travel with 10 children and four other youngsters aboard a renovated bus. They left for San Francisco then north, living on the road with a kitchen, restroom, and bunks, nine miles per gallon, about six dollars a day for food.

John T. Gojack, 39, Fort Wayne Indiana union leader, was sentenced by U S District Judge David A Pine to nine months in jail and a $200 fine for contempt of Congress. Convicted May 3 on six charges, he refused to answer questions before a House subcommittee on Un-American Activities. Gojack, vice president of the United Electrical and Machine Workers Union, faced a suspended sentence request that was denied. He had served in the U S Air Force and argued he provided substantial information. the judge called him defiant.
