Town Council backs police in brothel row in Jackson
Police Chief Guido Tofanelli, backed by the Jackson city council, moves to replace his indicted two-man force amid a vice scandal. The council removed Fre gulia and Dondero from payroll for 90 days while Tofanelli faces possible further action. Mayor Smallfield and Councilman Davies urged keeping the chief until proven otherwise as a grand jury probes misconduct. In separate justice court action, Lucille Peterson was acquitted as a state raid netted madams and prostitutes.
