Mansion on Signal Hill Tied to Prohibition Era Shell ties

Andrew Pala built a 15 room mansion on Signal Hill in 1919 costing over 30000 dollars. Prohibition hit in 1920 shuttering his Vernon liquor business. After decades the house passed to Shell Oil geologists and two concrete lion statues remained guarding the entrance. Pala died in 1935 and royalties continued to Mrs Albina Pala as Shell bought the property rights.
