Stowaway French divorcee seeks lost GI on voyage
Sylvia Raiaut, 34, a Paris railway secretary, arrived in New York as a stowaway aboard the Ile de France, claiming to want news of a Pennsylvania-based GI she met in France in 1947 and last heard from in 1955. She hid in a first class cabin after boarding at Le Havre July 16 and was helped by fellow passengers who raised $80.
