Bids to Open Shortly on Site for $625,000 Post Office
COMPTON July 22 A $625,000 federal post office site and building for Compton has been designated though not officially authorized. Congressman Clyde Doyle said the department will advertise within 30 days and that procedural steps remain. Postmaster Clark Wallace cautioned site acquisition does not guarantee rapid construction amid the Korean War. Plans also call for a 4000 square foot annex to ease main office overcrowding, with bids opening in Los Angeles Monday and the annex aiming for a Christmas occupancy.
