Honeymoon Cottage Ranks First in Swank Cat Motel
Hollywood notes tell of Mrs Mildred Alexander creating a cat motel on Ventura Boulevard after moving from New York. From a sign in the front yard to nearly 40 cottages, the facility houses adult cats and kittens with human-style beds, a lobster and caviar menu, and a tree growing through a central cottage. Renowned cat fanciers and stars have visited or purchased, while the owner recalls how a stray alley cat sparked her venture now cherished by feline owners. The estate of Jean Harlow funded the most lavish unit, Blue Baby, and Blue Baby’s passing boosted its popularity. Mrs Alexander describes a life-changing move from mice troubles to California expansion under family influence.
