Yakima Washington July 12 a spectacular crash of a gasoline laden truck and trailer rig and a pickup and automobile killed nine. The father of a family of eight survived in critical condition Lee M Johnson 34. The wife and five of the children were killed outright. the sixth child Robert died today. Killed also were Kathy Connie Gary Jean Lee Jr Merrill Erickson 28 Seattle and Donald C Campbell 23 Selah. The Johnsons were returning from a swimming party when the vehicles collided on the highway.

Three Die Fighting Fire as Wind Shifts
In Yuma Colorado three men burned to death while battling a wheatfield fire 18 miles northwest of town. The blaze started about 430 pm from a truck exhaust and spread rapidly joining eight harvesters to fight it.
