Vigil by five Foster Children as Father Confined
Five Bobikevich children remain wide eyed at their foster homes watching from windows for news. They are Victor 9, Luba 8, Jimmy 6, and 6 week old Julie and Janet. They have learned of their mother Beatrice Elizabeth Babikevich 40 who died of cancer last Thursday. Their father Victor 43, who suffered an emotional collapse when he learned of his wife’s condition, has been committed to Metropolitan State Hospital pending a sanity hearing held in Los Angeles. The children know nothing of those events beyond that something is wrong, while the oldest cluster around their father who described himself as the happiest man in the world a month ago. He had been caring for the house and kids while Beatrice was in the hospital, and his housekeeping work gave him new appreciation for a mother’s duties. (Continued on Page B-2, Col. 6).
