Lancaster storebookkeeper faces manhunt over $100000 theft
Katherine Rita Hassel of West Lancaster, a bookkeeper at Darmstaetter's, confessed to stealing $100000 over eight years to fund blackmail payments to her ex husband John Frank Huber, 49, of York. Detectives trapped the Hubers after Hassel’s payment marked money was handed to Huber's son in an alley. Hassel was temporarily released to continue the sting. The Fourth of July toll reports later detail traffic and drowning deaths nationwide.

Crystal Lake, Ill. AP A 3 year old boy plunged 60 feet into an icy well, floated face up unconscious for 45 minutes, then was rescued by volunteer firefighters.
