Mr and Mrs P R Scanlan celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Monday with a family party at the home of Mrs Scanlans father Burton H Bridge 3701 Olive Ave.
Dr. Russell N. Squire of Pepperdine College urged teachers to gauge each child’s learning pace and avoid impatience with retarded or slow learners. He noted talent can emerge in such students and cited factors like eye trouble malnutrition and emotional issues as possible causes of apparent retardation. He said musical training can enrich a child’s life even if mentally retarded.
Ebell Officers will fete juniors at a Friday luncheon to mark the annual party. Mrs. R. L. Buffum heads the officers and chairmen, with Mrs. Homer Redford as party chair. Meeting table decor will feature a Valentine motif with the board, led by Mrs. Wilbur Lee Candy. Honor guests include Mrs. Walter C. Yaish president, Mines Fred E. Whitmore, John E. Roggeveen, Ray W. Parker, George S. Hedley Jr., Arthur R. Hooker, Jerry LaLacheur, Carl Brooks, Wilbur Seils, Robert A. Delfs, Jack Fawson, Francis Finley, Paul G. Kelley, Paul Webb and Harold Larsen.
National Secretaries in Lakewood and Long Beach announce events this weekend starting with a hostess Adams home gathering at 5312 Mez zantine Way for new and prospective members. Plans include a major spaghetti dinner fundraiser on March 3 at Town Hall and a charter night for Manuela Nieto chapter on March 10 amid earthquake anniversary symbolism.
