Man plummets from Warwick Hotel after clinging to window
A 50-year-old man Elmer F. Vail of Pontiac Alabama hung from a sixth floor window sill at the Warwick Hotel in St Louis and leaped into a firemen’s net as a crowd watched. He was hospitalized at Guy Hospital in serious but not critical condition. Police said he had broken windows in his room and refused to unlock the door for officers or hotel staff. Fire crews were summoned about 9:20 a.m. and he held on for about a minute before jumping.
