City Co Awards Five 1911 Improvement Act Contracts
City contracts under the 1911 Improvement Act were awarded to Sully- Miller Contracting Co. for five paving and alley projects with sums totaling 20,? plus a sixth bid for sprinklers by D and M Sprinkler Co. The paving covers alleys east of Easy Avenue, Terraine Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway, Lido Lane to Virgil, and Freeman Avenue stretches. The sprinkler contract covers installation in the planting area west of Clark Avenue at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Compton District to trade land for alley in Delta Ave area
Compton will convey a 734 foot strip of the college site west boundary to Long Beach for a 15 foot alley behind homes on Delta Ave north of Artesia Street. Bids open Feb 5 for alley improvements at Locust Elm and for a north south alley east of Elms Ave, bids Feb 12. Both projects are 1911 act jobs funded by an assessment district. The Long Beach Ministerial Union received a permit for an Easter dawn service at Memorial Stadium on April 13 with charges waived. A service agreement with the Navy will provide police fire and disposal services for the Lexington Housing Project 2390 Grand Ave in Los Alamitos Circle area, July 1 1951 to June 30 1952. The Navy will pay Long Beach 5312.73 in lieu of taxes for tidelands property ownership. Cities nationwide offered support while Ashland Wisconsin objected to the stance. City Attorney to draft a resolution seeking 16000 from Los Angeles County for storm debris cleanup on beaches.

Compton Council approves land detachment for annexation
The council voted to approve detaching a 110 foot wide strip running north from Artesia Street along the Compton College site boundary so the land can be annexed to the city of Compton. The strip of land is to be detached for annexation.
