World Airlift From Home Through Talking Letters
The Weisingers finance a "word airlift" sending taped messages between hospitalized GIs at Osaka 279th General Hospital and their families. Cpl. Martin Weisinger records patient messages, family replies are mailed back, and conversations often loop multiple times. The project has aided morale, with nurses noting its impact beyond medicine. The Weisingers also tape radio programs and albums to augment hospital shows.
