FBI Silent on Hoaxer's Spy Claim in L A

A Los Angeles Civil Rights Congress leader David Brown, 49, claimed to be an FBI informer and then went silent at FBI headquarters in Washington. Brown said he worked under the alias Dan Roberts and was paid since 1950 for information on leftist groups, including the Rosenbergs family ally network. He fled to Fresno, rode a bus to Portland, then was flown back to Los Angeles after reporting a kidnapping. His wife reported him missing January 3, and a bombshell note to Andy Harris hinted at Brown’s death.
