Embassy Denies Egyptian Dancing Girls Inheritance Tale
The Egyptian embassy denounced as a vicious lie a report that Americans inherited four Egyptian dancing girls. Chicago importer Christopher Janus and his brother dispute the claim, noting slavery ended long ago but arguing slavery-like practices persist in Egypt. The brothers discuss possible uses for the girls and the family inheritance, including entertainment ventures, while Janus mentions buying Cairo-made films to fund the estate.

A California delegation led by Senators Downey and Knowland urged reversing the order to close the Long Beach Navy Yard. Local leaders argued the yard is the Pacific Coast’s most efficient and subsidence claims are unfounded, noting 30 percent oil-well cuts saved millions and that only a small yard area shows subsidence.
