Earliest Year for German Units Delayed to 1955
Bonn February 26 Allied officials said the Atlantic army will wait at least until 1955 for 12 German divisions to join the west defense. France's political shifts have pushed back the 1954 timetable. German rearmament would require two years to arm and train 300000 to 400000 men once the six nation European army treaty is ratified and conscription approved. Delays save 12 million marks daily and aid German industry and export efforts.
