MWD Backs State Water Piping Plan
San Diego report notes the Metropolitan Water District approved the state plan with reservations. General Manager Robert B. Diemer said the project needs a firm assurance of a permanent right to a definite quantity of water from surplus areas and opposed using state funds until water rights for originating counties and Southern California service areas are settled. He favored studies of a coastal route as an alternative to the Tehachapi high lift plan.
