Bodies of four men found in harbor gas tank car

In Wilmington an investigation reports four men, apparently suffocated by gasoline fumes, found in a tank car at the Texas Oil Co refinery west of Long Beach. Det. Adrian Thornberry says they lay near the top opening, possibly trying to unlock the top. The car left Tucson on February 2 and arrived Friday. Frank Harvat of Harbor City found the bodies. The car was empty but had contained gasoline. The men wore work clothes and appeared to be Mexican.

City Officials Work As Garbage Lifters In Jersey City

Deputy Mayor William Flanagan and City Commissioner Bernard Berry joined 250 city workers at 6 am at Montgomery Street yards to lifter garbage amid a court restraining order halting further payments on garbage contracts. Kidnapping and Assault Reported Near Lakewood Field

A 16 year old Lakewood girl was abducted by two men Sunday near Artesia and assaulted in a field off Carson Boulevard after a midnight ride through dark streets. She later returned home in a disheveled state, telling Norwalk deputies she was taken while returning from Paramount. The attackers, described as two short men aged about 18 and 35, drove her home after the attack. Deputy accounts note the incident as criminal assault with limited details released by authorities.

Double Slaying After Reconciliation Attempt

Lost his nerve jilted youth dies in near suicide crash

A 20 year old Royal Oak man Romnle J Le Blanc insisted he meant to end his life but lost nerve at the last moment. He swerved to avoid a head on crash and crashed his car into a viaduct center post then onto a factory lawn. Police were summoned by an anonymous caller and Le Blanc was later handcuffed after exiting the wreckage.
