Phoenix, Feb 2. Trunk murderess Winifred Ruth Judd escaped from the Arizona State Hospital again tonight in a mysterious black sedan seen near the hospital minutes before she was reported missing. Hospital officials said Judd had appeared restless and had been punished for a prior escape. She was committed in 1922 after being convicted of shooting two women friends and placing their mutilated bodies in trunks sent to Los Angeles. Hospital officials described the escape route via a third story tower and a hand made ladder, and said Judd was recaptured within 24 hours after sighting on a Phoenix street. Authorities noted a black 1548 Hudson sedan parked near the hospital with four persons seen in the car.
