Three Roadblocks Target New Year Holiday Traffic
California Highway Patrol set up roadblocks at three locations Wednesday night, stopping 3,140 motorists and citing 256. Locations were 61st Street and Hooper Avenue in Sualty Gate, Alameda Street and Florence Avenue in Florence district, and Bellflower Boulevard and South Street in Lakewood City. About 50 officers at the first two sites checked 3,700 motorists and issued 107 citations. Beltline and South Street site issued many more for drunken driving, license and registration violations. Patrols will continue through New Year’s to remove drinking drivers and faulty vehicles from the highway system.
