French Planes Hit Reds in Laos Action Report
French fighters and bombers attacked Vietminh led forces across Laos while French ground defences beefed up key bases. South of Thakhek near the Thai border, reconnaissance units from Seno failed to contact rebel forces who crossed Laos last week. The French said two of their companies and North African troops were lost in the Vietminh assault. Vietminh radio claimed most Laotian troops under French command had fled.

A desert wind brought a thick dust outbreak with gusts over 80 mph in foothills. The Weather Bureau warned of strong winds and blowing dust with partly cloudy skies. British Civilians to Fill Jobs at U S Air Bases in Britain
