Amputee Veteran Attacked in Hawaiian Gardens Christmas Day
Charles Baker a 23 year old Korean War veteran and double amputee was assaulted by a gang of youths in Hawaiian Gardens on Christmas Day. They robbed him of 810 and beat him with his own artificial legs before fleeing. Baker was treated for multiple injuries at Rancho Los Amigos Emergency Hospital in Norwalk. He lost fingers from his right hand and a thumb from his left in Korea in 1951. Baker could not identify his attackers. The incident followed a car pursuit after he says a group forced him off Ima Street.
