Advances Rejected, Man Strangles Wife
Lancaster County Attorney Elmer Scheele charged Lincoln City Forester Darrel Parker, 24, with first degree murder in the strangulation death of his wife Nancy, 22, on Dec. 14. Parker reportedly confessed after authorities pressed him following a claim she refused his advances and he tried to stage a rape scene. Nancy Parker’s body was found decently manhandled in their Lincoln home. Parker, a pair Iowa State College graduates, was held in solitary confinement after a midnight arrest following questioning and a lie detector test.

Ellensburg Washington UPIs report says efforts to find paratrooper Sgt John Horan missing since an emergency bail out over the Cascade Mountains were intensified after a bonfire sighting on a ridge near the Columbia River. Snow and experienced skiers joined the search as radio contact with the ground party was lost. Air Force planes circled but could not reach due to fog. Horan from Fort Bragg parachuted Sunday while en route to Seattle to meet his Japanese wife and three children. The site of the bonfire was far from the bailout point, and winds may have carried him east. His wife and children waited in Seattle for news.
