Jealous Suitor Holds Woman Hostage in Mill Drama
A jealous suitor kept his girlfriend at gunpoint in aWake Forest textile mill for more than 23 hours before releasing her and surrendering to police. Graham Timberlake, 31, was committed to a North Carolina mental hospital after officers talked him into giving up. Miss Davis was taken home by family after the tense ordeal that began Tuesday morning when Timberlake dragged her from her loom and forced her into a mill room with a .21 caliber pistol trained on her head or stomach. Timberlake was later moved to Dix Hill State Hospital in Raleigh. Miss Davis was not harmed. The case drew in doctors, police, and family members as Timberlake had previously sought commitment for a nervous spell.

The intruder drew a pocket knife and slashed Sha mate and neighbor Harold D. Smith, 24, of 928 Rose Ave. A woman assistant who surprised the thief also received a slash wound as the chase continued toward Seaside.
