City council unanimously approves submission of a 3.2 million dollar bond issue for Municipal Airport diagonal runway extension at a February 9 special election. Bond No.1 on the ballot. Council to set final action next Tuesday.
Eastern Air Lines announced it will purchase 26 Douglas DC8 jet airliners for 165 million dollars to enter service in spring 1959. The order boosts the DC8 backlog to 95 aircraft valued at more than 500 million dollars, with production slated across Douglas Long Beach and a new facility to cost 20 to 30 million dollars.
Cleo Delores Cisco, 24, was killed in Marysville when a gun accidentally fired by her 4 year old son while she slept. The device, pulled from a closet, discharged from two feet away, wounding Cisco.
