Police Matrons Busy At California State Fair
Mothers of the largest family at the California State Fair are two police matrons, Mrs. Marion Lasell and Mrs. Raymond Fister, who care for about 100 lost children daily. Hal Harper of Los Angeles, the sole specialist in such work, runs the lost child car at the fair. Harper has logged over 150000 miles guiding children back to parents since 1951, averaging roughly 5000 reunions per year. Attendance on the second day rose to 33391, with 47421 a year ago. A luncheon honored press, radio and television representatives and awarded Nancy Lenore Roberts a $500 Edith R. Allen memorial journalism scholarship.
