AFL-CIO endorses Stevenson Kefauver ticket
Union leaders meeting in Forest Park plan to mobilize votes for the Democratic ticket in the Eisenhower era race. The 28 member council voted 143 to endorse Stevenson Kefauver, with a 17 to 4 split on endorsing the Democratic candidates for Congress and state offices. The endorsement follows a bloc of former CIO leaders, and will be presented to 140 AFL-CIO unions in Chicago on Sept 12. Nixon expressed confidence workers will back the Eisenhower administration.
