Walt Disney Defends Disneyland Amid Critics Plea
Walt Disney responded to critics of Disneyland in Anaheim saying the public approves and calling critics crazy. He noted crowds of up to 25,000 daily, later reduced to 10 cents for the merry-go-round, more fountains and benches, and a higher average spend by visitors around four dollars not counting meals or souvenirs. He stressed no government subsidy and that he mortgaged everything to fund the park.
