Aircraft Makers Counter Truman Board Plan
In Washington the air coordinating committee faced strong protests from aircraft manufacturers against a plan to disperse industry to guard against future air attacks. They questioned underground factories and opposed a single international operations instrument. Senate debates with Owen Brewster and Howard Hughes highlighted support and opposition. President Truman sent the committee report to a temporary air policy commission led by Henry Ford II to modernize U.S. air policy.
