Lane Changing Useless On Freeways Says Police Test

Police Traffic Bureau reports a test on Hollywood freeways shows lane changing saves little time. Four unmarked cars ran a 5:35 am outbound trip from Alameda to Vineland with one driver sticking to each lane. The lane changer finished within seconds of the fastest and much slower than the slowest. In other tests the lane changer beat by seconds or minutes, but sometimes lagged behind the left lane. Officers conclude lane changing is not worth the effort.
