Senate fights over anti communist bills and party outlaw plan

Senate leaders push to combine Humphrey and Butler measures to outlaw the Communist Party and bar communists from labor unions. The bill would punish joining or remaining in the party with prison and fines, while a House vote remained uncertain amid FBI and Brownell opposition.
