The Third District Dental Auxiliary opened its year with fourteen members present at the home of new president Mrs Mulford Smith. A salad luncheon preceded the business meeting and plans include a September social brunch, a co sponsored puppet show with the Long Beach Parent Teachers Association, a forthcoming bridge tournament as a fund raiser, and a rummage sale. Regular meetings are scheduled the fourth Friday and the second Monday each month.

A mid summer event at the Fort MacArthur Women's Club featured the presentation of new officers for the coming club year. Officers include Mrs. Sidney F. Dunn as president, Mrs. Thomas B. Harper as vice president, Mrs. Donald Gellnicht as secretary, and Mrs. George F. Wigger as treasurer. Hostesses were Mrs. W. C. Parker, Mrs. R. E. Greening, and Mrs. W. C. Jennings. The club meets semimonthly for luncheons, bridge, and canasta beside the post pool.

Miss Flora Lée Underwood daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert C Underwood of 29 E 21st St wed James Wasson son of Mr and Mrs Hugh Wasson of 142 Adair St in a double ring ceremony at Berean Tabernacle Redondo Beach with Rev Lee Joiner officiating. James and Mrs. Tay lor of 6025 KE Seaside Walk were honored with multiple sendoffs before their Aug 20 move to New Jersey. Fetes included a paddlers water jalopy fleet review invitation, crafted gift, and a luncheon hosted by Mrs A Howard Bigony. Guests and hosts from local families attended dancing and canasta, with numerous attendees named. A second dinner party at 5926 Appian Way entertained the Taylors and guests from San Francisco and Charleston area. The Taylors, with ties to Brig Gail Crowley and others, prepare to relocate for a year while the husband attends War College in Carlisle, Pa. Additional gatherings and a Women’s Auxiliary meeting were scheduled in Long Beach, with barbecue luncheon and a television skit.
