Supervisor Urges View On Scrip Action For 40 Acre Tract
Board of supervisors chair Raymond Ve Darby told the city council he favors rescinding the action to accept and file Gerard Script on a 40 acre city owned tract. He cannot secure a sponsor for such a motion though others say the county’s interest will be protected by the scrip if title eventually rests with the federal government. Long Beach officials were assured the city keeps title to the property and harbor holdings after a recent Supreme Court ruling on California title lands. Darby said he would release the county’s claim but no supervisor would move it. He warned the scrip is not valuable for Long Beach Harbor and noted recent stipulations bear the goal. The letter responded to a city council resolution urging rescission.
