Bill Lets Auto Dealers Sue Makers in Federal Court
President Eisenhower signed a bill allowing auto dealers to sue manufacturers in federal court over franchise grievances including failure to act in good faith and franchise terminations. The measure, seen as partial relief, lets dealers recover damages and costs while manufacturers may seek counter charges of bad faith by the dealer. Eisenhower ordered antitrust reviews to assess continuing issues and alternative solutions for Congress.
