Home of Tomorrow: fully electric prefabricated domes
General Electric executive at the American Public Power Assn. convention described the 1965 American home as a prefabricated stressed skin plastic dome. It would be heated and cooled by compact heat pumps with space-saving design, flat wall TV, wall mounted sets, level refrigerators with drawer freezers, and thermostatically controlled cookware. Electricity would power lighting, cleaning, and upkeep, creating an unlimited market for electrical products and services. Atomic power plants then promised to curb fuel costs and scarce oil coal supplies.
