Subpoena planned for Nixon adviser Chotiner graft probe

The Senate Investigations subcommittee voted to subpoena Murray Chotiner to testify on graft in government contracts. Chair McGlellan said the subpoena could be issued this afternoon with calls likely next week. Kravitz, linked to Chotiner, pleaded the Fifth Amendment amid questions on payoffs and government contracts. Kravitz has been convicted of misappropriating government funds for uniforms.

Oklahoma rejects return of escapee 81 year old

Oklahoma prison authorities reject pursuing the 81 year old escapee George Couch who fled McAlester state prison in 1917 after a year of a four year embezzlement sentence. Local officers say Couch now Henry Murphy has lived openly for decades and deserves a pardon. He was fingerprinted during a routine check and recently committed to a hospital before transfer to the state hospital in Canyon. Also noted Steve Allen signed a new Sunday night NBC show to start in June.
