States' Rights Democrats Convene to Blueprint Strategy
In Montgomery Alabama on April 23 the States' Rights Democrats meet to decide their plan for the 1948 presidential campaign. They face a split over loyalty pledges required by the state party. Some seek to run, but many would back the national party nominee. A court challenge failed as the Supreme Court upheld the pledge. Some prefer waiting to see the Democratic nominee.
