Defense Will Act to Free Red Trial 5
Defense attorney Richard Gladstein plans a directed verdict of acquittal today in the trial of five people accused of harboring a Communist fugitive. If denied, he may offer only a brief defense on subsidiary points or none at all as the government rested its case. The judge barred admission of seized documents from a Twain Harte cabin. Defendants include Sidney Steinberg, Shirley Breman, Samuel I. Coleman, Carl Edwin Ross, and Patricia Blau.
