Temple Israel joins 53 West Coast reform congregations selecting two youths for the National Leadership Institute at Camp for Living Judaism in Saratoga California. Rabbi Zeldin says 500 congregations may nominate, with caravans from New York City and Chicago to escort campers. The Camp Saratoga program aims to build youth leadership in congregation and community. The institute runs Aug 9 to 21 after a June 37 start for younger sessions.

New Building Occupied by Fourth Ward in Long Beach
Members of the Long Beach Fourth Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints moved into a newly completed combined ward chapel and Long Beach Stake Tabernacle at 37th Street and Elm Avenue on Easter Day. Bishop William P. Appleberry leads the ward and dedication planned for August. The project cost about 350000 for land, building, landscaping and furnishings with 30000 man-hours of donated labor. Of 850 members, about 700 attended Sunday services. The plant will host stake and union meetings for other wards. Francis Zimmerman, Compton First Ward, is stake president, with Lee A. Stokes, Long Beach Second Ward, and Jesse R. Hailstone, Compton First, as counselors. Sunday services: priesthood 940 am, Sunday school 1020 am, sacrament 600 pm. Weekday meetings subject to change.
