Navy chief petty officer Grover Irwin flew to Seaside Hospital where his estranged wife Betty Lou Irwin lay paralyzed from a bullet. Bert Witham Hardy Jr., 38, owner of a bar at 300 W. Anaheim St, surrendered after confessing he accidentally shot his girlfriend. Mary Lynn, the couple’s 6 year old daughter, was safe with her grandmother when the shooting occurred.
