Extraordinary Scottish Sheriff Depute Accuses Advocate of Power Grab

A Scots notice from Inner Temple recounts Ancutsarp Cocxsurn, Esq. of Cockpen, Sheriff Depute of Edinburgh, denouncing a Crown Advocate for Scotland over a royal proclamation restricting emigration to America. The tract brands the Advocate's actions as treasonous and beyond legal authority, alleging enforcement harms trade and liberty, and challenges the Advocate to justify his justification in law. The piece cites restrictions extending to Canada Nova Scotia and Florida, and warns that barring passage to America could justify death for robbers or pirates without royal mandate.
