An 18th century letter to the Printer of the London Evening Post surveys liberty, royal mercy, and a manuscript titled Libel and Bludgeon, amid references to Balfeard M'Quirk, the Prime Minister, and partisan fervor. The column also surveys court actions, emigration issues, frontier disputes, Jewish settlement penalties, and assorted trials, duels, and local notices.
From the London Gazette May 30 and reports dated May 13 to May 30, the very dry cold spell raises mortality in Warsaw and Copenhagen. A placard in Copenhagen denies suppression of Bank notes and promises rewards for the author of such rumors, while a second placard warns against riotous assemblies. Reports mention corn export restrictions, a partial permit to export wheat to Rheims for the French coronation, and updates from the Massachusetts Bay affair noting no confirmed skirmish and awaiting affidavits at the Mansion House. May 30 Whitehall notes reference dispatches on General Gage and massachusetts reports aboard the Sukey. The correspondence also cites threats to the republic and the retreat of the Varteis since 164% election of John Celimit as king of Pound.
