Trial of Daniel Perreau for forging Airad Bond at Old Bailey

Daniel Perreau stood before Justice Afton and Baron Hotham charged with forging and publishing a bond of William Adair in a case with four counts. Key testimony described using Adair’s bond as security, the forged signature, and Mrs Rudd's alleged manipulation. The defense claimed he was duped by Mrs Rudd while witnesses supported the prosecution leading to a guilty verdict on uttering and publishing the forged bond.

Trial scene and crowd fill the court for forged notes

The report describes a crowded court with Mrs. Rudd as an instructed witness in a major forgery case. It notes high seating prices and mentions Dr. Johnson and Mr. Garrick among attendees. The text argues Mrs. Rudd cannot face principal charges due to her earlier King’s evidence and voluntary confession.
