Grand Duke Rewards Venetian Guard with Jewels in Verona

From Verona a dispatch reports the Grand Duke of Tuscany, before leaving for Florence, gave Brigadier Bratico a gold watch set with diamonds and presented a gold snuff box and ring to the Brigadier. Officers received silver-hilted swords and etuis, soldiers a ducat, and 200 sequins were distributed to magistrates of health.

Deaths of Isaac Winslow and Samuel Checkley in Plymouth and Boston

Boston December 28 reports the death of Hon. Isaac Winslow Chief Justice and longtime provincial counsellor in Marshfield at 67. Also noted is the passing of Samuel Checkley Justice of the Peace and former militia colonel in Boston after a long confinement. Cambridge records the death of Jonathan Remington, eldest son of the Hon. Judge Remington.
