POWs in Copenhagen call for end to Vietnam War
Three American POWs arrived in Copenhagen en route to New York after Hanoi release. They urged action by the American people to end the war, while an antiwar escort accused U.S. diplomats of indifference. Gartley, the longest-held captive, spoke of freedom for all prisoners if the war ends.

Fire destroys abandoned building at FCI
A portable wooden bowling alley on the Federal Correctional Institution property burned last night near the main road by the minimum security camp. No injuries occurred and nearby trees were spared as firefighters contained the blaze. The cause is under investigation and the structure, 60 by 150 feet, had been slated for dismantling.

State grant still available for river park
Parks and Recreation commissioners were told the city has about 175000 in state and federal grant funds for the river park project until June 1973. The deadline extension follows resolution of highway siting delays and the city must draw plans and commit to the proposal. The 300 acre site lies in the Santa Ynez river flood plain and would avoid permanent structures. If the waste water bond passes in November recycled water would flow to the area creating a green corridor.
