Oil Field Blaze Injures Worker Near Santa Maria
An oilfield worker, Joe Nunes, 48, of 1003 E Cypress Ave, was seriously burned near the Shell Bradley lease off Telephone Road north of Clark Avenue. He was listed in satisfactory condition at Marian Hospital at 11 am with burns to face arms back and head. The fire started at 9 46 am when vapors leaked from a new tank and ignited, burning most of Nunes head hair. the blaze was under control when firefighters arrived and no one else was hurt.
