Non-teaching workers press for higher pay at board meeting
About 100 non teaching personnel packed the Central Administration Building as Leonard Bonilla of the California School Employes Association urged higher salary consideration. He said 238 of 290 district workers are members and demanded an extra 10 monthly in fringe benefits costing about 26500. Negotiations with Supt. Alice Milligan continued past midnight.

Three neighborhood burglaries target coin collections in Lompoc Valley. At Herman S. Chan’s 4061 Solar Way a partial coin set and a camera were stolen. Walter H. Davenport foiled two thieves at 287 B Burton Mesa Blvd Vandenberg Village. Douglas L. Leardini’s 4075 Polaris Ave. lost a 1922 Liberty Head dollar a 1952 Liberty Head half dollar a 1964 Kennedy half dollar and other items plus about 600 dollars total value. Police note no link between incidents despite proximity.

CIA opened personal mail for 20 years
